  • Staghorn Sumac, is a large deciduous shrub or small tree with sensational autumn displays of orange, golden yellow and scarlet foliage
  • Large, pinnate bright green leaves up to 60cm long form the perfect backdrop for the panicles of greenish yellow flowers in early summer (bees love them!) The autumn foliage is a vibrant mix of reds, oranges and yellows and is followed by dense pyramids of crimson berries which provide winter nourishment for birds.
  • Makes a striking statement tree for front gardens and also works well in a mixed border
  • Staghorn gets its name due to the appearance of the bare branches in winter, when their widely forking, hairy twigs resemble the velvety horns of young stags!
  • A very hardy and low maintenance tree which is rarely bothered by pests and diseases and is drought tolerant once established. It can also help to prevent erosion.
  • Our trees are usually between 18 and 36 months old at the time of dispatch.
  • Our trees are professionally pruned before dispatching. This formative pruning can involve cutting the main leader if the expert tree growers decide this will produce a better-shaped tree. This can stop the tree from becoming “leggy”, and promote stronger, bushier growth.MORE
