If your patio’s been looking a bit tired recently, then give it a makeover with this gorgeous patio redbud tree! Producing masses of magenta flowers during spring, ‘Avondale’ is as dazzling as it is easy to look after.
Growing to just a metre-and-a-half tall when given an annual trim, this tree is perfect for injecting some colour to your doorstep or balcony.
Alongside the fabulous flowers, this variety of Chinese redbud also features attractive, heart-shaped flowers which emerge a purplish hue before maturing to green.
The bark of Chinese redbuds has been used in traditional medicine for its purported antiseptic properties, while redbud fossils have been found dating all the way back to the Eocene period, over 30 million years ago!
Awarded the RHS’s Award of Garden Merit, and rightly so, ‘Avondale’ has been shown to deliver exceptional performance in British gardens.
