  • ‘Umineko’ is a striking, upright cherry blossom that produces showy white flowers (approximately 2.5-5cm in size) and attractive green foliage which becomes red and orange during the autumn months
  • Flowers comprising five silk white, notched petals and alluring crimson centres bloom readily in small clusters in April
  • Columnar in nature, and with upswept branches, this variety is a fabulous choice for smaller spaces
  • Like most cherry blossom varieties, ‘Umineko’ grows well in most soil types provided it has good drainage – it doesn’t like to sit in waterlogged soil
  • Fully hardy, this tree will produce the best flowers when planted in a fully sunny spot
  • Prunus ‘Umineko’ was first grown by acclaimed gardener (and authority on all things cherry blossom), Collingwood Ingram, in the 1920s – it’s a hybrid between the Fuji and Oshima cherry blossom trees
  • Our potted trees are supplied in EcoPots. Eco pots use 70% less plastic and are fully recyclable, unlike normal single use pots. They flex and so produce less root spiralling and travel better in the post
  • Our trees are usually between 18 and 36 months old at the time of dispatch
  • Our trees are professionally pruned before dispatching. This formative pruning can involve cutting the main leader, if the expert tree growers decide this will produce a better shaped tree. This can stop the tree becoming “leggy”, and promote stronger, bushier growth
